"I like when you're a cantankerous old bastard," Armand says sweetly. "I like when you're difficult and contrary. When you fight me. When you make me want to devour you alive and leave nothing but bones." He's speaking like these are compliments, starry eyed for the way he's looking at his companion.

"I'm the one who hollowed you out, but I can put them back. I won't say that I want to be better," he notes, because the ship has sailed on that, "but I want it to be different. I want you to see me for everything I do."

His lips curve up with amusement as he regards the stalls, and Daniel's glee. "You brought me on a date for profit?" he teases. "And what would you like to take home?"
